For the last 50 years, Vets4Pets has been caring for family pets in the North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide.
The very first Vets4Pets clinic was opened by our founding veterinarian in 1972, operating out of his home seeing not only cats and dogs, but also caring for ponies, goats, and kangaroos to name a few. This clinic was Vets4Pets Ridgehaven, and it is still the same building today, although with a few makeovers and renovations since.
When Ridgehaven first opened it was staffed by one vet and two nurses, and offered an after-hours service, twenty-four hours, seven days a week.
Our longest serving Vets4Pets staff member, Christine was employed at Ridgehaven not long after it opened in August 1974. You can still find Christine working at Ridgehaven welcoming clients and their pets into the waiting room.
Kicking it in to the eighties, the next Vets4Pets clinic opened in Salisbury Park in April 1981. Our second longest serving employee, Kylie was employed as a nurse here and has been providing quality service ever since. Kylie can now be found working as the Practice Manager at newest clinic, Cottage Grove.
Into the nineties and we debuted our first emergency hospital in Golden Grove on April 1993. For the last 29 years our Golden Grove hospital has provided around the clock care, 365 days a year, until only recently we were forced to close the doors for the very first time in late 2021 due to Covid and staff shortages. Our Golden Grove Hospital is currently open seven days a week, from 7am until 9pm.
We kicked off the new millennium with the addition of Vets4Pets Angle Vet in October 2000, making it the fourth Vets4Pets site. Following that, Vets4Pets built and opened two new purpose-built clinics, Northgate in April 2006, and Mawson Lakes in May 2007.
The newest Vets4Pets clinic is Cottage Grove, but you’ll actually find our longest serving veterinarian working there, Dr Virginia Hart.
The Vets4Pets team are so proud to reach this momentous milestone of 50 years in the local Adelaide community. The team at Ridgehaven are excited to celebrate their 50th birthday this August and are giving every cat or dog that visits for a consult or surgery a small gift to say thank you.
