Reptiles:

How to keep reptiles as pets

If you are going to keep a reptile as a pet, you have to research what you are doing. They often give less feedback than other pets when something is wrong so its important to make sure they are well looked after to avoid problems.

Diet and environment

2 of the most important things you can do for your reptile is give them a good diet and living environment. The must have their cages cleaned and well maintained on a regular basis. Also make sure you have access to a store than can provide your reptile with the right food as they can’t help themselves to some dinner left overs as easily as a dog can.

You first reptile

If you are a first-time reptile owner, go with the easy reptiles to look after. Some lizards and non-venomous snakes can be good first choices. And remember, some reptiles can be long lived, if you get a reptile, you get it for life.

Follow the law

There can be illegal trader in exotic animals. Do not be part of it. Before you choose a reptile as a pet, make a hundred percent sure that it is legal to own the pet and it hasn’t been taken from the wild. If you’re not sure, give us a call, we are happy to offer you advice.
